In the early days of the 2020-21 pandemic, the Swiss-German border was closed to curb the spread. A fence was put up between Constance, Germany, and Kreuzlingen, Switzerland. It didn't stop couples from making contact through the fence, so a parallel fence was built, with six feet between the two.
lyrics
Silence...stillness...days without a shave
Pencil...moving...'cross an empty page
Even my piano wants to stay inside and drink
Keep hearing a cure is on the brink
Touching...breathing...standing much too near
Fences...trying to keep us in the clear
Hands no longer holding...faces framed by wire mesh
No passage in the flesh
If I had a dollar for each time I hear the phrase
"In these uncertain times" come blaring out the TV
I would buy a wrecking ball and knock the fences down
Melt 'em all down and cast it out to sea
Watching your departing silhouette
Walking...lighting one last cigarette
If I had a dollar for each time I hear the phrase
"In these uncertain times" come blaring out the TV
I would buy a wrecking ball and knock the fences down
Melt 'em all down and cast it out to sea
